Hi, I’ve recently become involved in VR projects as an external interest from my day job (CTO for a large UK stadium) and as such believe I’ve hit upon a concept for a VR app with large scale commercial possibilities.
I don’t know many developers in this space so thought reaching out within Oxford was my best opportunity to push this from a concept into delivery.
Are there any developers involved in this group that would be interested in meeting to discuss this concept I have and seeing how we could work together to deliver a proof of concept?
On October 26th, we launched the VR and AR Oxford Hub with the participation of over 50 people from various departments from the University of Oxford as well as external visitors. After interesting talks and engaging discussions with Chris Patton, Aitor Rovira, Stephen Taylor, and Ben Oakley, the evening finished with a networking session and some VR demos from Dell, Stephen and Aitor.
This project aims to create a network of academics, members of staff and students to support and promote their innovative ideas. In the first two months, more than 200 people within the University subscribed to the mailing list of this network expressing their interest in training and hands-on activities. Furthermore, the VR and AR Oxford Hub liaises with companies and other universities, making it the single point of contact for people outside the university.
